Dying to know more? Here’s some answers to questions we get asked all the time! If your question isn’t listed, feel free to contact us for more info.
Dietary Restrictions
Dairy | We typically use dairy in our pie crusts. However, we can make your pie dairy-free upon request. Contact us for more information. |
Egg | We typically use egg in our pie crusts. However, vegan pie crust can be requested. Contact us for more information. |
Gluten | Unfortunately, Life of Pie is not gluten-free. This would be impossible to accommodate due to the huge amount of flour we use in our tiny kitchen on a daily basis. |
High fructose corn syrup | We do not include high fructose corn syrup in any of our products. |
Nuts | Life of Pie is completely peanut-free. However, we use walnuts, pecans, and almonds in some of our baking. |
Preservatives | We don’t add preservatives to any of our products! |
Trans fat | We use trans-fat-free vegetable shortening in all of our pies. |
Vegetarian options | Life of Pie offers many vegetarian options! We never use lard in our pastry; we use trans-fat-free vegetable shortening and butter. That means all of our dessert pies are vegetarian, and all of our quiches, unless they’re specifically marked as containing meat. |
Product Information
Is all your baking done on-site? |
Yes! All of our meals and baked goods are made on-site. However, we also sell products made and packaged by our partners. |
What happens to the baking that doesn’t sell? |
Life of Pie does not have a “day old” shelf. At the end of the day, we donate all the leftover baking to the Shepherds of Good Hope to help feed those in need. |
Can your pies be frozen? |
Many of our dessert pies are better if they are frozen before being baked. We always assume that you’d like us to bake your dessert pie before you pick it up. If you’d like your pie to be frozen, just let us know when you place your order. All of our savoury pies are sold frozen, unless you request otherwise. We’ll provide you with simple instructions to bake it at home. However, if you’d like us to bake your savoury pie for you, please allow us a minimum of 90 minutes advanced notice to have it ready for you to pick up for dinner! Contact us to place an order. For baking instructions, see below. |
