Do you do all of your baking on site?

Yes, all of our baked goods (excluding the gluten free products) are made on site.


Are you peanut free?

Yes, the bakery is completely peanut free and we do not have any peanuts in the shop.  We do, however, use walnuts, pecans, and almonds in some of our baking.

Are your pies gluten free?

Regretfully, no, our shop is not gluten free. Given given the huge amount of flour we use on a daily basis, and the tiny size of our kitchen, it would be impossible for us to keep the gluten free pies gluten free.  We do, however, provide a selection of pre-wrapped cookies, and brownies that are made off site in a completely gluten free kitchen.

Are your pies dairy free?

We use butter in all of our pie crusts.   Depending on the pie, we may be able to make some that are dairy free.  Please contact us for additional information.

Are your pies egg free?

No, we use eggs in all of our pie crusts.

Do you use any preservatives in any of your products?

No, absolutely not.

Do you use High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) in any of your products?

No, we don’t.

The sign in your window says you’re ‘Dog Free’ ?

Yes, in accordance with department of health regulations, we are not allowed to have any pets (dogs, cats, etc.) in the premises.   Service animals are always welcome and are exempted.

Are your Dessert Pies vegetarian?

Yes, all of our dessert pies are vegetarian. We use trans-fat free vegetable shortening and butter in our pastry.  There is no lard in our pastry. Our quiches, unless specifically marked as containing meat, are vegetarian as well.

Are your pies trans-fat free?

Yes, we use trans-fat free vegetable shortening in all of our pies.

What happens to your ‘day old’ baking?

As many of you know, we don’t have a ‘day old’ shelf, instead we donate our baked goods that didn’t sell each day the the Shepherds of Good Hope to help them feed those who are less fortunate.

Can I freeze your pies?

Many of the dessert pies we make can be frozen but some are better if they are frozen before they are baked. So, if you want a dessert pie that you are planning on putting in the freezer, just let us know.  If you don’t ask for a frozen dessert pie, then we’ll assume you want it baked.

Savoury Pies are available frozen unless otherwise requested. If you don’t ask us to bake your savoury pie for you (which we’d be more than happy to do), then we’ll assume you want it frozen and provide you with a very simple set of instructions so that you can bake it yourself (see Baking Instructions, below). If you’d like a savoury pie baked off in time for dinner, please give us at least 90 minutes notice.

Baking Instructions

How do I bake one of your Savoury Pies?

Do NOT thaw.  Bake from Frozen.  If there is a top crust (as opposed to a crumble topping),  then poke 5 or 6 holes in the top crust to allow the steam to escape. Bake from frozen at 375 degrees for 60 to 70 minutes.

How do I bake one of your Quiches?

Our quiches are already fully baked. All you need to do is to warm them up in the oven (15 to 20 minutes @ 350 degrees until heated through).

How do I bake one of your Dessert Pies?

If your dessert pie is a custard pie, then it’s already fully baked. Just put it out on the counter to thaw for an hour or two.



Do I have to place an order?

No, but it’s strongly recommended for our more popular items as they tend to sell out very quickly.  If you order, we’ll make sure that it’s available for you.      Orders may be placed by email, or phone (613-693-1853).

During our busier times (especially Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter), we reserve the right to stop taking orders several days prior so that we can ensure that all of the orders get filled. We always make extra, but can no longer guarantee that product will be available.  Your order can be picked up at the shop, located at 1134 Bank street (near Bank/Hopewell ave).

Do you deliver?

We don’t, but delivery is available via our partner, Givopoly.

Do you take requests?

Yes, absolutely.  We plan our menus one to two weeks in advance, so if you’d like to submit a request, we’d be more then happy to consider it as it makes our planning easier. We may not always be able to accommodate you, but we will do our best.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Interac and cash for payment.  Regretfully, we are no longer able to accept personal cheques as a method of payment.

Do you take special orders?

We do try our best to accommodate special orders.  Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Do you supply products on a wholesale basis?

Yes, we do. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

How big are your pies and how many people do they serve?

Our dessert pies are made in 10-inch, deep-dish plates and serve 6 to 8 people depending on how hungry they are.

Quiches are typically available in both 10-inch regular and 4-inch personal sizes.

The vast majority of our savoury pies are available in the 10-inch deep-dish size, with a couple exceptions to the rule in a smaller 9-inch size.  On average, each pie will serve between 6 and 8 people.
